Federation Housing’s Rabbi Sandra Berliner was the recipient of the NAJC (Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains) Award for Outstanding Service. A dinner was held in her honor at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, NJ on May 7, 2019. In September 2007, “Rabbi Sandi” began her career at Federation Housing as our part-time in-house Rabbi/Chaplain. She now wears “2 yarmulkes” for Federation Housing, in her additional role as part-time Service Coordinator for Sidewater Apts. and the Florence E. Green House. Case Study: Abramson Senior Care’s Community Nurse Practitioner Program

Since February 2019, Federation Housing has been working with the Abramson Senior Care to promote overall wellness for our residents through their Community Nurse Practitioner Program. Upon referral by a building service coordinator, a nurse practitioner (NP) will come to visit the resident in their home, collaborating with their primary care physician and the resident’s relatives, to ensure overall health and wellness through preventive and ongoing care. Building Spotlight - Smoke Free Policy

Increasingly, the long-term, harmful effects of smoking and second-hand smoke on vulnerable populations particularly the elderly, have gained significant attention. To address this health problem, in July 2018 FH initiated a smoke-free policy in all properties.FH realized the significant benefits that can result from adopting smoke-free environments for both employees and our 1,500 residents.The plan involved changing the rules regarding smoking and designating no smoking areas, to include, but not limited to all apartment units, common areas, offices elevators, hallways, bathrooms, entry ways, porches, balconies, patios, parking lots and recreational areas. “The Committee Guy”: Lew Abel Since 1998, Lew Abel has proudly served on the Federation Housing Board. Lew is actively involved in several Board Committees, namely the Personnel, Investment and Finance Committees and has served as Chairman of both the Personnel and Finance Committees. Lew, a CPA, received his B.S. in Accounting from Temple University. As I get close to completing my second year as Chairman of this terrific organization, not a week goes by where I am not reminded of the wonderful Mitzvah, we are doing for our residents at every property. The programs we sponsor or have brought to us, the meal programs, the transportation and most of all the residences we provide to our less fortunate seniors. Our committees are supported by our in-house staff, led by Executive Director Eric Naftulin, who continue to raise the bar in every aspect of their respective responsibilities to our Board.
