The mission of Federation Housing (FH) is to provide much-needed affordable housing communities and services that empower low-and-moderate-income seniors to live independently and with an enhanced quality of life.

Federation Housing

  • Founded in 1970.

  • Developed, built and manages 11 affordable housing sites.

Affordable Housing Sites

  • 9 in Northeast Philadelphia; 1 in Elkins Park; 1 in Trevose, Bucks County.

  • Open to all, ages 62+

  • Service coordinators at every site facilitate access to community social services.

  • Federal programs determine income qualifications and rent levels.

  • 7 sites operate under HUD guidelines; 4 operate under Low-Income Housing Tax Credit guidelines.

Residents

  • Over 1,500 residents; 1,260 households.

  • Average age: 80 years old.

  • 72% of residents are aged 75+

  • 204 residents are 90+; 5 are 100+

  • 68% are women and 32% are men.

  • 76% live alone.

  • 69% are at 100% of povery level and below; 80% in HUD properties.

  • 99% are at 250% of povery level and below; 99% in HUD properties.

  • 100% receive public assistance.

Programs

Our programs are supported solely through philanthropic contributions.

 

  • 22,000 meals served in 6 congregate dining halls annually.

  • Free van transportation - 3500 person-rides each year to local malls and food shopping.

  • Intergenerational, recreational, social, holiday and entertainment programs monthly.
