Rabbi Sandra Berliner's Message
Dear Friends:
The Holiday of Passover begins for the Jewish community on Friday night, April 19. This festival of freedom celebrates the rights to the religious and cultural observances of all people.
One of the most beautiful aspects of this holiday is the paragraph in the Haggadah, the book of the Passover Seder ritual which says:
“Let all who are hungry, come and eat, let all who are needy come celebrate the Passover holiday with us.”
These words acknowledge that all are included and welcome to participate in this festival. It reminds us to open our home, our hearts, and even our pocketbooks to those who do not have enough to eat or who do not have a roof over their heads.
At Federation Housing, we are so aware of the many in our community who are in need of food and shelter, and offer our residents a place of compassion, care and inclusion.
May this Passover be a time for all of us to reach out and stand up for those of our community who may need our help and love.
With blessings for a “Zissen Pesach”, a sweet and joyous Passover,
Rabbi Sandra R. Berliner, Certified Jewish Chaplain, M.S.W.
Chaplain, Federation Housing
